As every year, summer is coming in Rome and many cultural events are scheduled to start from the first days of June. One of them is the Trastevere Cinema Festival named "Festival Trastevere Rione del Cinema", that will take place in Piazza San Cosimato from Wednesday June 1st until Monday August 1st 2016, organized by "Piccolo Cinema America" and "Municipio Roma I Centro", with the support of "Regione Lazio" and "S.I.A.E." (litterally "Authors and Editors' Italian Society").

The Trastevere Cinema Festival, then, is a 60 days event of cinema under the stars, projecting totally for free a different movie every day at 9:15pm, by directors such as Ettore Scola, Rob Reiner, Dino Risi, Walt Disney, Massimo Troisi, Roberto Benigni, Mario Monicelli, Martin Scorsese, Federico Fellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Carlo Verdone, Ferzan Ozpetek and many more! It's very important to note that some projections will be enriched by the presence of their directors, who will introduce and explain those tapes directly to the spectators (one of them is Roberto Benigni).
The complete and official program of the event is readable at this link, which is all in Italian, although directors' names are clearly visible (don't hesitate to contact us for various translations); within the program, 21 movies will be projected in English or with English subtitles.
It's highly recommended to every Roman citizen and every visitor to watch a movie under the stars in the heart of the Eternal City to really appreciate the Roman summer and to better understand how the history of cinema developed in the last century. It'll be a great occasion for integration as well as for sharing and enriching everyone's culture.
Finally, thanks to "Piccolo Cinema America" and "Municipio Roma I Centro" for organizing such a lovely Festival in such a beautiful location.
